Planet Rock to close :-(
It's hard to believe, but a country that produced rock bands like The Who, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath., The Pistols & The Clash only has ONE rock music radio station. What's even more unbelievable, is that it's about to close, unless they can get a new buyer.
The award winning radio station has grown it's listeners year on year, and currently has more listeners than some BBC radio stations.

The Downfall of HD-DVD

Death of a format.
Seems the Time Warner announcement of them exclusively backing Blu-ray is the final death knoll for HD DVD format.
There has already been several knock-on effects of this news.
- New Line cinema have followed suit, there Lord Of the Rings now becomes a Blu-ray exclusive
- HBO is certain to follow suit.
- BBC released in the US will also be Blu-ray only.
- CNET are now recommending that users avoid purchasing HD DVD hardware.
Seems it really is game over for the HD DVD format, a format that never really amounted to anything other than a enthusiasts format.
The HD movie industry can finally move forward, and consumers can feel confident in their purchases not being obsoleted overnight. I personally think it's only a matter of time, before Universal and Paramount (the 2 remaing HD DVD supporting studios) follow suit. Perhaps even an annoucement at next weeks CES show.
